Shelby is one of my dear friends, and when she asked if I could photograph her for some new head shots for her website and blog, I couldn't say yes fast enough. She is the photographer and inspiration behind Shelby Tsika Photography, and her passion for her sweet clients and food and product photography constantly blows me away. I met Shelby a couple of years ago now (even though it feels like a lifetime at this point), and we connected over our mutual love for photography, our high school sweetheart love stories, and our introverted nature. Funny thing about being an introvert, you're drawn to other ones and when you find the right one, I'm pretty sure you can talk endlessly with them about anything and everything. Shelby is definitely one of those people for me. Her openness, kind nature, and sweet soul make her one of my favorite people, and I'm so thankful to have met her through an amazing creative community. Here are some of my favorites from her session at The West Studios in Houston!
I don't photograph styled shoots all that often, but when I do, I enjoy the slower pace to get creative and photograph beautiful things made and designed by other talented wedding vendors. Last spring I photographed this gorgeous bridal brunch inspiration at Peach Creek Ranch. Heather from EpochCo + Events and Jaelynn from Urban Rubbish planned and styled everything you see below, and boy, those colors are splendid. Bohemian has always been one of my favorite styles, but I'm certainly not bold enough to rock it. I'm so thankful for vendors that have become friends that trust me to photograph their gorgeous designs!
Also.. exciting! This shoot was featured on Brides of Houston, you can check it out here.

Oh Ben and Ashley! I just love these two, and now that I've met their parents, I love them, too! Ashley hired me to do a couples session for her and Ben last year as a Christmas gift to their parents. They're the kind of people that you become fast friends with, so when Ben contacted me back in May asking if I'd be willing to photograph his proposal to Ashley sometime in the fall obviously I was going to be on board. Through the summer, Ben planned, traveled back and forth between El Paso, Victoria and Austin, occasionally without Ashley even having the slightest clue as to what was going on. Oh did I mention he also moved from El Paso to Austin during that time? Yeah, he's a trooper. Finally the October morning had arrived and it was time to seal the deal. I hid in the bushes along with Ashley and Ben's families, while Ben waited for Ashley, her two friends, and Bear to arrive at Lick Creek Park for some "photos." They all made their way to the selected spot, Ben walked Ashley out a bit further, and got down on one knee to ask Ashley to be his wife. It was awesome. Ashley's reaction was precious. Their families whooped when she said yes, and came running out to celebrate with them both. I don't get to photograph proposals often, but they are seriously one of my favorite things ever! We took family photos and lots of fun photos of Ben and Ashley together afterwards. What a joy it was to be apart of this awesome day! I cannot wait until their wedding next December. 51 more weeks, Ash!
