Matt + Jenna | Pennsylvania Couples Session on Film

In February, I flew up to Pennsylvania to visit Matt and Jenna, and they were kind enough to let me try out my new medium format camera. It was quite the adventure, mostly because I literally had never even put a roll of film in it until then, let alone take an actual photograph with it. I was sure the scans would come back from the film lab terribly underexposed and awful, but to my surprise, I LOVED them. I definitely see room for improvement, but I'm so happy and excited about these! Matt and Jenna are really good at being in love, even after a stressful day of picking me up from the airport and planning her own styled shoot that was the very next day.  Marriage looks good on them.

Shot on Canon EOS 1V & Pentax 645 with Portra 400. Scanned by the FIND Lab.

Best of 2015 | Weddings + Engagements

This is gonna be a long one, so bear with me. What a whirlwind of a year this has been, and it just kept getting better and better as the year progressed. I was blessed with amazingly fantastic couples, some of whom I get to work with in 2016, too! Going back through all of the weddings, engagements, and bridals I did in 2015 was a sweet reminder that I am so fortunate to be able to do what I love. 2015 has had it's fair share of triumphs and some moments when I wasn't sure what the heck I was getting myself into, but through it all, I know this is what my soul was meant for, even if it scares the crap out of me sometimes.

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.

2015 took me to places I never dreamed I'd get to see, aka Oregon. I shot my very first out-of-state wedding in Pennsylvania. And, I've started to implement film into my work. I celebrated with couples all over the state of Texas, and I explored more of this grand 'ole state than I ever have before. I've become braver, more confident, and I've experimented with new ideas and techniques I wouldn't have even thought about in years past. I'm so happy to have the support of my family, my husband, my clients, and YOU. Here's to 2015! Let's see what's around the corner in 2016! Happy New Year! You can see some of my favorite images from the past year all gathered in one little spot.

Now onto the weddings with some bridals thrown in for good measure!

Landis valley museum Wedding | Matt + Jenna

Oh my, oh my, oh my. I am so excited to be able to share this wedding on the blog! Honestly, I don't know if I'll have the perfect words to describe how much I loved being able to travel up to Pennsylvania and photograph Matt and Jenna on their wedding day. I've known Jenna for almost three years now, and while it may seem crazy to some people, we met over the internet and slowly became best friends throughout the past three years. When Curtis and I arrived in the Harrisburg airport the day before Matt and Jenna's wedding, I immediately texted Jenna that we had landed, along with all of the celebration emojis I could quickly get my thumbs on. I don't think I've ever been more excited to photograph a wedding before, and I'm not sure if I will be again. We texted, skyped, facebooked, and talked on the phone for hours about this day, and it was FINALLY here. Curtis and I helped set up for the reception in the beautiful firehouse the night before the wedding, and I couldn't believe all of what Jenna had dreamed and talked about for the past year and nine months had come together. Matt and Jenna's wedding day was a gorgeous September day. The sun was out, everything was coming together perfectly, as a photographer herself, Jenna made sure I had the most splendid timeline a photographer could ask for, and I was so incredibly happy to see two of my very good friends finally get married to one another. It was a joy to photograph this wedding. Definitely an experience I'll never forget, and one that I'm so blessed to have had the privilege to shoot.

To Matt & Jenna: Thank you for trusting me with this glorious day in your lives. Thank you for being such kind and thoughtful friends. Thank you for being some of my biggest supporters for the past two and a half years. Thank you for having one GOOOORGEOUS wedding. And, thank you, thank you for being a big part of our lives, even if we live 1500 miles away from each other. I love you both, and I hope you love and cherish these photos for the rest of your days.
